This is the first AI article that I've actually sent to my entire family. It starts with an analogy to COVID and it says, "Imagine February of 2020. There are niche corners of the internet talking about this virus that seemed to be spreading while the rest of us went about our business as if nothing was changing. Fast forward a month and life as we know it was completely upside down." And it analogizes to AI and it says, "We're in a similar moment right now."

I think SaaS companies are facing a lot of headwinds. For one, there's a vibe coding phenomenon. Certainly you can vibe code a lot of SaaS solutions.

Why do I need Salesforce if I can just vibe code my own tailored CRM?

Yes, this is very true for SMBs. So we see a lot of SMBs use Repla to create the best hedge fund CRM, right? That's different than the VC CRM. Those are actual stories from our customers.

In the near future already in my company and a lot of other companies, more and more people their job is to basically be orchestrating a set of agents. Like you basically have a bunch of these agents running in parallel. You tell them what to do, you manage them, so they're sort of like the CEO of all these agents, but actually CEO is not quite right, right? 'Cause that's executive, they're the chief question officer. Their job is to define the questions that they work on.

We're gonna deliver experiences that are done for customers. We're gonna help manage your credit, your wealth, your taxes for you as a consumer. We're gonna help do the work for you to find customers, manage your cash flow, manage inventory, get your taxes done as a business. You're always in control, but we're gonna actually do the work for you.

Phase three for us was actually inventing digital employees. So not just specific point solutions for AI, but now having end-to-end solutions where we have our own digital employees who have human managers. We have 130 of them across our four personas who are working end-to-end processes.

You could argue basically the marginal cost of creating software is going, I'll say to zero, that's hyperbolic, it's not actually going to zero, but it's going way down. And for every single one of your businesses, I imagine software engineering was the scarcest resource, the hardest to hire for. You spent all this time thinking about offshoring strategies and on-shoring and this, it was always that tension. Have we moved on from that? And it begs a lot of interesting questions. How does it change build versus buy?

With COVID, we didn't have a choice, we were all playing defense. With AI, we have a chance to play offense.
