Intuit CEO Sasan Goodarzi on Navigating the ‘SaaS Apocalypse’

We've been talking about the SaaSmageddon or the SaaSpocalypse or whatever you wanna call it. Is that real? Do you think that AI agents are gonna start to encroach on your business, that I can have an AI agent that does my taxes or keeps my books or all the things that you do?

Yeah, I mean, it's a great, it's a great question just, first of all, to zoom out, we said years ago that AI was gonna be bigger than what electricity sparked and what the internet sparked. I mean, we couldn't imagine what life would be like if we didn't have the internet today. And now we're actually seeing, I think, the start of what impact it will have to experiences, to monetization models, and to really how you do the work in a company. But before I specifically answer your question, I think the big turmoil right now is what will happen to your total addressable market because of AI? What will happen to the profit pools because of AI? And therefore, are you gonna be a winner or are you gonna be a loser? And where will you end up? And that's what the turmoil is of the market. For us, just to set context before I answer your question, you know, for those of you that don't know what we do, we serve consumers, small businesses, now much larger businesses, and we help them with building credit to building wealth if you're a consumer and we help businesses manage from lead to cash, all the things we do as an enterprise, we help businesses less than a billion dollars do that. And in that context, what we declared more than seven years ago was that we were gonna become a service company. So what does that mean? A service company means that the essence of what we said is we're gonna deliver experiences that are done for customers. We're gonna help manage your credit, your wealth, your taxes for you as a consumer. We're gonna help do the work for you to find customers, manage your cash flow, manage inventory, get your taxes done as a business. You're always in control, but we're gonna actually do the work for you. What does that mean? We're gonna bring the enterprise grade insights, KPIs, to you and do the work for you, make recommendations for you. Because when you're a consumer and you're a smaller, even larger business, it's a lonely world.
