Journal Editorial Report: Mamdani and Erdogan get called out by name.

Netanyahu Denounces the World's Antisemites

To all those spreading these lies about my country and about our brave soldiers, whether they sit in this hall or in the office of the antisemitic mayor of New York, I say this, "Shame on you. You've falsely, repeatedly accused Israel of genocide. Mr. Mamdani, you tried to stop me from coming here. You tired, you tried to silence me." Well, you can't silence me. You can't silence the truth.

That was Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, Thursday in a fiery speech before the United Nations General Assembly denouncing growing global antisemitism and Zorhan Mamdani after the New York City mayor repeatedly accused Netanyahu of genocide and threatened to have him arrested when he came to New York. Mamdani, for his part, wasn't backing down ahead of Netanyahu's arrival this week.

The truth when it comes to the Prime Minister is that he is the subject of an international criminal court arrest warrant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. And as the prime minister is the architect of horrific genocide against Palestinians.

We are back with our panel. Matt, I want to ask you about just a factual point first, and that's about this international criminal court indictment arrest warrant, which Mamdani falls back on in the accusation of genocide. Is that a credible arrest warrant?

Not in the United States, because we don't accept the ICC jurisdiction and nor should we. It's an institution of globalist government and the United States has always said that we wouldn't obey by it. And so what's interesting about Mayor Mamdani there, Paul, is that he's elevating international law above US law. And of course, as the mayor of New York City, he has no power to arrest a visiting head of state even if he... Well, we know he wants to.

Well, and the Marco Rubio has said the US is gonna try to dismantle the international criminal court and sanctions against who could come as soon as this week, Matt.

Yeah, I mean, the ICC has turned into essentially an arm of the anti-American, anti-Israeli forces that you saw assembled at the UN. Indeed, the same people who walked out of Prime Minister Netanyahu's speech would like to use that bureaucracy that they've built over time in the United Nations to weaken the United States, to weaken our ally and partner, Israel. And so it's right for the Trump administration, in my view, to resist and to do everything it can to undermine such an institution.

So Kim, think politically for a second. Why did Donald Trump, given all of this, decide he was gonna visit Mamdani at Gracie Mansion, the mayor's home?

You tell me, Paul. I mean, look, I can totally see what Zohran Mamdani gets out of this, right? I mean, you make an eyes to the President of the United States and maybe you give yourself a little bit of insurance against the possibility that maybe Trump will send his National Guard units to your city or take some other federal action that undermines New York's independence and Mamdani's ability to do what he wants. So that's just cleverness on Mamdani's part. I do not get what the President of the United States gets by sojourning to meet with Mamdani, other than the only thing I can think, Paul, is that this is a lifelong New Yorker in Donald Trump. And so he might think there's something cool about having your own personal line to the New York mayor, this position that probably in his lifetime mattered. I also think this shows Donald Trump, he told Democrats from the minute he was first elected in 2017 that he wants to work with anyone who's willing to work with him. I think that's just in his nature for better or worse.

All right so Dan, you live in New York. Is Netanyahu right that it is unsafe to be a Jew in this city? Increasingly unsafe.

It is increasingly unsafe. There's no question that Jews are being attacked in this city. And I think Netanyahu was absolutely right to raise the issues the way he did. The history of attacks on Jews over the last hundred years is extraordinarily troubling, needless to say, leading up to World War II. And he tried to make clear that Mamdani, the others accusing Israel can be genocide against the Palestinians, Hamas, Iran, Hezbollah have been trying to destroy the Israeli state, which is to say the Jews, before all of this happened. And then what precipitated it, as Netanyahu describes, October 7th, the destruction, slaughter of all these Jews. Israel then goes into Gaza, where Hamas is hiding in tunnels under schools, hospitals, mosques, the Palestinian civilians as human shields against all this. That is never brought up in these conversations about this war between Hamas and Israel. And I think Netanyahu was entirely within his right to try to go through the history of all this because where it leads is to a very bad place for Jews both in Europe and in the United States.

Yeah Matt, what's really striking to me is that Mamdani could say this and there would be no criticism at all from Democrats. At least I didn't hear any. You would've thought that in the city and the world with the most Jews outside of Israel that some Democrats would speak up. They don't. Why not?

Well, because Paul, they've moved toward the Mamdani position and really the only Democrat who is an advocate for the state of Israel and willing to bear the controversy is Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania. The rest of his party has moved to isolate the Jewish state. And I think what Trump and Netanyahu need to expect is that if the Democrats get Congress, there's gonna be a rash of anti-Israel legislation sanctions attempted to be imposed by a Democratic Congress. Of course, Trump will block that, but it sets up the stage for a very hostile environment for the state of Israel should a Democrat come to power in 2029.
