Now Jill Biden Tells Us

Look, I view myself as a bridge, not as anything else. There's an entire generation of leaders you saw stand behind me. They are the future of this country.

Jill Biden is out promoting her new memoir, "View From The East Wing." And as for regrets, the former first Lady doesn't have a few, just one really, that in retrospect, she wishes her husband hadn't run for a second term.

You know, as I look back, would I wanna put Joe through the hurt and the pain that we felt during that time? Never. Never. I mean, it was so hurtful.

It's taken Mrs. Biden two years to admit it was a mistake.

She suddenly just said, don't worry.

Though it's worth noting that from the excerpts and interviews that we've seen so far, Mrs. Biden hasn't admitted that she played a crucial role in encouraging her husband to run again.

Nikki Haley, one of the Republican candidates is calling for mental competency tests for those politicians over the age of 75. What do you think about that?

It's ridiculous.

And yet, by all accounts and our own reporting, the former first lady liked the White House and celebrity life and wanted Mr. Biden to serve until January, 2029. Apparently she didn't see or didn't want to see what Americans told pollsters they could see with their own eyes.

Have you ever seen signs of mental decline in your husband? Mental decline?

No.

Not physical,

Mental.

No. I mean, I've seen aging. I've seen him slow down, like I said, but no.

Or what special counsel Robert Hur put in his February, 2024 report into the handling of classified documents. "Mr. Biden will likely present himself to the jury as he did during his interview with our office," it reads. "As a sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man with poor memory." Four months later came that fateful CNN debate with Donald Trump.

Look.

I don't know what happened. I mean, as I watched it, I thought, oh my God, he's having a stroke and it scared me to death.

Yet, that isn't what Mrs. Biden told the public after the debate.

Joe, you did such a great job. You answered every question. You knew all the facts.

And despite growing calls from within Mr. Biden's own party, that now was the time to drop out, the first couple kept their second term dream alive.

I'm his wife. I'm not gonna get out on the stage there and say, "Joe, you really screwed that up." I mean, and we have all our supporters there.

The truth is that the Bidens clung to the presidency like life itself until it was impossible to do so.

Guys, hold on a second. There's no reason to go back and forth and be in this aggressive way.

I just wrote an oped that appears in the Wall Street Journal today that calls for a vote of confidence amongst my colleagues, a secret ballot, because so many are afraid that if they speak the truth, they're gonna be punished, which is what happens in this business. It's repulsive.

We need Kamala Harris, the president of joy. ♪ Freedom, freedom ♪

There was no competitive primary. Instead, the party anointed the vice president as the default nominee.

Let us choose Joe.

A decision that did the country a disservice. After all, holding a competitive party convention to choose a nominee would've been riveting for the country, especially among undecideds. But the original sin was Joe Biden's decision to run for a second term abetted and encouraged by Jill.
