Gearing up for a Rally

Aside from seasonality what is it that drives this market higher?

I've mentioned that estimates probably need to come down for 2024, but if you look at the 2023 story, the earnings story has been one of upside surprise, of beating estimates, of profit margin stabilizing. So I think earnings could be a factor. I mean, obviously there's your narratives out there, your AI narrative that has really helped boost some of the stocks at the top of the market. And it has been a narrow market this year although it's broadened out a bit with some of the energy outperformance. I think the catalyst doesn't need to be anything more than continued consumer resilience, continued labor market resilience. The economy's slowing, but not slowing so hard that it might indicate a hard landing. And a fed that at some point indicates that they're done with their rate hike cycle which is contingent on inflation continuing to come down. So all of the things we've been watching so far, we need to continue to watch, but I do think that they kind of come together to form a pretty strong case for a continuation of a cyclical bull market.
