So from this day forward, it'll be a policy of the United States to do whatever it takes to lead the world in artificial intelligence.

I'm at the Mellon Auditorium in downtown Washington, where President Trump just gave his first major address on artificial intelligence. The president said his administration has three main priorities when enabling AI. They want to export AI to as much of the world as possible, they wanna speed up permitting and build out of data centers needed to train AI models, and they want to target woke AI. The administration is trying to tout those three pillars in the AI risk in China.

We will be adding at least as much electric capacity as China. China's not doing it. And if you're gonna be beating China, and right now we're leading China, many of our largest tech companies have reaped the blessings of American freedom, while building their factories in China.

US companies have pledged trillions of dollars of investment into the AI industry, and they cheered today's release.

We need US technology companies to be all in for America. We want you to put America first. You have to do that. That's all we ask. That's all we ask.

In a big surprise, President Trump said, tech companies should not have to worry as much about copyright protections from media and entertainment companies when they say an AI model's on copyrighted materials. That could end up being a big win for the tech industry because the president and his administration, up until this point, had stayed out of that debate.

You can't be expected to have a successful AI program when every single article, book, or anything else that you've read or studied, you're supposed to pay for.

Critics of the events said that it seems like the administration is embracing what big tech wants and forgetting about protections for consumers and other needed regulations.

When you do your best, when you work your hardest, and when you're allowed to be free of horrible, foolish regulation and you're gonna have regulation, but it's gonna be sensible, smart regulation, there's nobody's gonna beat you.
